Sony Clie PEG NX70V
I purchased a Sony Clie just a few weeks ago and I have found this machine absolutely awesome in every respect. It never stops to amaze me, as everyday I find different functions I can do on it.
The screen quality is just stunning and camera and movie playback is a great feature. The quality of sound from both the movie and mp3 player using the earphones is just excellent. The pda is slim with large screen for excellent viewing and is well made, housed in a silver case with a rotating screen with neatly fitted camera for photos and movie taking.
You can extend the memory facilities by using a memory stick, a Sony Magicgate 256 MB can be used by downloading a patch off the internet. It has a 200MHZ processor which makes application viewing quick, the OS 5 operating system on the desk top is easy to get around and use. I would certainly recommend this machine to anyone who was thinking of purchasing a pda. It has everything one could need in a tiny hand held computer from storing and retrieving data, pictures & movie footage, even a remote control for your television, also voice recording for that important message taking. Sony has even included a built in keyboard, so you can type in your data. (Good Work Sony!)

Clie NX70V Review - The future is here!
I have had the opportunity to own many PDAs but the last Palm OS compatible device I owned was a Palm IIIc which was the first colour Palm. I have also owned no less than four Windows powered devices from a range of manufacturers over the years - this machine really beats them all.

The Sony PEG-NX70V follows the design of its predecessor, the NR70V but sports some major improvements:

- XScale 200MHz CPU
- New Palm OS 5
- Cool new Sony user interface
- Wireless network capability

As well as a much improved digital camera which also records live video clips. This is in addition to MS-Office compatibility, MP3, Flash compatibility, Sony TV/DVD/Video remote control and the standard Palm organiser applications.

Dont forget, a memory stick is a must, and I would seriously recommend getting 128MB at the time of purchase - movies and music will use it!

Using the Sony jogwheel, you can select and open application single handed using the new improved user interface which I found more appealing than any other PDA interface, but for traditionalists, the original menu screen can be selected.

The new processor really adds a new level of usage to the Clie range, applications must specifically written for the new processor to take full advantage of its abilities but older applications do run well using a built-in emulator. If you rely on old software, you will notice its faster but not too fast, it seems the emulator tries to keep the speed in check.

The Wi-Fi wireless networking feature requires an add-on card which plugs into a special compact flash-like slot on top of the machine, I personally would never use it. But it would allow full internet browsing and email use however.

I have been using the Sony Clie PEG-NX70V for three weeks now and have continued to be impressed, no, stunned by the abilities of this device. As an OU student, this is really invaluable, Ive stopped using the PC to prepare documents and make notes since I can create and edit Word and Excel documents directly on the Clie. I can also be naughty and record entire lectures and worry about paying attention later. Even a recent field trip to my local museum was enhanced by being able to take notes, photos and video clips of my visit. For business use, the ability to use these features may seem unimportant, but I would imagine once you use them regularly, youll wonder how you managed without it.

I have heard critisism of the 128MB memory stick limit - this is a myth, I heard directly from Sony Europe that memory stick pro is coming very soon and will work with the NX70V. The potential to go as far as 32GB! means almost unlimited movies and entire music collections can be carried in a single compact device. The future is here!

Excellent!!!
If you are like I was and are trying to decide which PDA to go for (and try to justify spending the money!) then hopefully this will be helpful to you.

I have only owned my Clie for 2 weeks but already it has made changes to the way I work and organise my social life, it has all the usual things (diary, to do list etc) that come with the Palm OS but the camera and voice recorder have been very useful for work and the occasions when that chance of capturing a humerous moment presents itself.

The MP3 player is superb, this does chew up memory space even with the 128MB memory stick but the sound quality is as good as my portable CD player with no risk of jogging. Games can be downloaded from the web and the temptation to have few film trailers was too much as the quality is superb, the TFT screen is like a computer monitor and the playback smooth and very watchable.

Last but not least is the ability to transfer Excel and Word files, this works well and the facility is very useful for many applications.

So overall my verdict is....superb! Buy one its more than worth the money but you must get the memory stick....
