online play
The PS2 has finally got an internet connection and lord behold its going to resahpe the way people talk about gaming. Although the XBOX has its very own network gaming syatem, XBOX Live, I personally think the PS2 version will be a much bigger success.

The Network Adapter is black in colour and plugs into the Ethernet Port on the back of your PS2, it then connects to a BROADBAND line only. Sony decided not to allow ordinary modems because it would slow down the fast pace of their desired internet games like, SOCOM Navy Seals, Midnight Club 2, Tony Hawks 4 and lots more. I like the look of SOCOM Navy Seals and I like the idea of teams and the headset which allows you to communicate with other team members instead of typing like on the computer with internet games which does get annouying and slows you down.

for all the people out there that have broadband have fun and enjoy.

Technical Help for those that need it...
Lets start by saying this is an excellent piece of kit. I use mine with Tony Hawks 4 and to browse the Internet from my living room (more about that further down).

Here are some points for those with technical queries:
You will need one of the following:
_Option1) A PC with broadband Internet connection and a network card installed. Connect your PCs network card to the PS2 network adapter using a CROSS-OVER network cable. You will need to turn on Internet connection sharing in Windows (available in 98SE or later), or run some sort of proxy server software (for Linux etc).
_Option2) An ethernet cable/ADSL modem with an RJ45 socket built in (not USB). I have not tested this method.
_Option3) A router connected to the Internet. This is my prefered method as my three PCs and the PS2 can all connect at the same time. A 4 port router with a built in ADSL modem can be purchased for about £50 now.

I just hope more online games come out soon. There currently arent many and they are still mostly above £25 each.

ehh??
Are people getting dumber?? Hard to install?? It is 2 screws in the back of your playstation!! Then bang it into your broadband! Ours is going through a router and works fine. As for people saying get X-box live etc. It may well be better but that comes with a subscription price. Buy this and Socom and Need for Speed and enjoy being humiliated by someone who is probably young enough to be your grandchild.
Excellent!!
So good we are getting one for the playstation in my bedroom for the arrival of Socom 2.
