Better at saying where, rather than how to buy

Introductory chapters have useful background information and a regional review of Spain, but the actual legal mechanics of buying are better covered elsewhere. I was also a little suspicious of the books objectivity, as it plugs its sponsors, a foreign exchange agency.

Useful and comprehensive

I am thinking about buying a property in Spain as an investment and bought this book to find out more about the process. Its a good starting point. It covers property purchase both from the point of view of a prospective resident (i.e. moving out to Spain full-time) and as a non-resident (i.e. holiday home / letting). It has a review of the various areas and lots of information about the actual process of buying a house. There is plenty of information about tax and also about the costs and issues associated with rental. It also contains lots of useful contact details. Overall, very useful.
