Outstanding Jukebox |
|
I already had the first 20Gb Creative JB, and then purchased the newer version and I can only say that if you dont own one its a must for every music lover and traveller. I travel a lot and it was a pain in the backside having to lug around 100+ music cds in a case. After I bought this however it was a god send. You can have your complete album collection on this Jukebox. Depending on the quality, format and bit rate that you save the music it can store over 500 Albums. Presently I have 749Mb of free space left, 505 Albums, 3000+ tracks (including wav files). And thats only half my collection. I need another one. It can also store data files, so if you are stuck with no floppy to store things on you can use the Jukebox as another storage device. Updates for firmware and applications are online and can automatically inform you of any updates that you need. Lightweight and with a remote control for those who place it just out of reach you can use the tiny credit card sized remote. Believe me buy one and you wont regret it.

Excellent sound and easy to set up and use |
I bought my Jukebox 3 in Feb 2004. Within an hour I had it connected to my PC and was converting my 250 odd CDs into "WMA" files; slightly smaller than MP3s and excellent quality. I now have all my music collection on my Jukebox with only 5gb of space used. The Creative Software allows you to review albums, artists and create playlists on your PC and transfer the information to the Jukebox and the Jukebox allows you to create playlists on the fly. By connecting the Jukebox to my HI-FI it is possible to record from old tapes and albums (not tried this yet to be honest - a "job" for the weekend) and play back through the HI-FI. The sound is excellent and virtually indistinguishable from the original recording. Last Friday I had people over for the evening - put on an appropriate playlist with random play and had 6 hours of music without having to get up every 40 minutes or so to change out the CD. Any downside - non that I have encountered so far. An upside - with the random play feature and a playlist with nearly 300 tracks on it I keep re-discovering tracks I have not heard in some time - if playing a CD from one artist I would skip tracks to get to my favourites - now it is refreshing to hear something that I have not heard for some time. One of my best gadget buys ever.....

The best value MP3 player around |
I have had one of these Creative Labs Jukebox 3 MP3 players for a while now and I absolutely love it. I got to grips with the basics on how to use it in a few minutes, and installing the software that links it to my PC was very easy. The player itself has a nice solid feel to it, and it can stand the odd small knock. It isnt as small and light as some other players but I like it the way it is, just a bit smaller than a personal CD player. The buttons are just right too, not too small and fiddly and not large and cumbersome, and they add to the feel of quality about it.You can store vast quantities of music on it too. I have all mine encoded in MP3 at 128kbs which gives a great balance between file size and sound quality. The sound quality is very good too, especially if you ditch the supplied headphones in favour of a higher quality pair. Then you get bathed in crystal clear sound that resonates through you delightfully (unless you are listening to something nasty!) Transferring music to the player is a doddle. The player comes with all the cables you need to connect to your PC, including a power cable, and the supplied software (which is worth updating via Creative Labs website, it is a very easy job) allows you to download the names and details of all the music you copy to your player from the internet. Transfer speeds over a firewire connection are lightning fast, but if you dont have a firewire connection then you can use USB which is a fair bit slower but still quick enough. The player is designed to be used not just as a portable device with headphones, but also to be connected to speakers, either separately to a set of powered speakers, or you can connect it to your stereo etc. When connected up you can use it as the centerpiece of your system, the remote control makes changing tracks and so on easy, and the huge number of tracks you can store on it combined with the ability to organise them into playlists or even play them randomly will keep you happy forever! You can even use it as a personal dictation machine if you connect a microphone to it! The LCD screen is easy to read and you can change the brightness and contrast to suit yourself, you can even set the duration that the backlight will come on for so that you can see what you are doing in bad light. Creative Labs have obviously put a lot of thought into this package, and it shows. This is definitely the best all round MP3 player on the market. It feels good, sounds good, and it even looks good too. Creative Labs have a winner here, I love mine and I think you will love it too.
