Ive read and referenced the earlier, American editions of this excellent book. I trust that the new edition contains only minor modifications. If you want to know EVERYTHING necessary to build and fly indoor model airplanes, this is the only book you will need. Williams explains things in a precise, readable way and the line drawings which fill the book are outstanding. Organizationally, Williams starts you off with a Simple Rubber Powered Stick Model similar to the AMA Cub. It is an ingeneous little thing built on a piece of (probably) A4 paper, complete with adjustable control surfaces. After teaching you to fly the SRPSM, Williams suggests experience with similar models before advancing to the more sophisticated classes. Williams provides plans for some of these, including a no-cal, a Manhattan formula and a rubber scale (an excellent plan of the Lacy M-10). The plans are full-size in the old, American editions. One hopes that the same is true of the British edition. By the time youve read the whole book, youve received a detailed education in how to build each of the American indoor class aircraft and the international F4D. If you follow Ron Williams guidelines, you will find successful indoor flying as easy is it gets, and youll enjoy the learning more than youd think.
