Very Good Candlestick Primer |
Steve Nison has a simple way of explaing his subject material, which leads to a lot of Ah Ha moments. I own both his previous books and have been studying them intensely. This course, while it naturally covers much of the same ground, is a valuable addendum to those books.I have studied various forms of Technical Analysis (TA) intensely, despite being a Value investor of the Benjamin Graham school. Most forms of TA seem to me to be overly complicated and based on assumptions about the behaviour of charts and mathematical data. Computers have been a wonderful tool for the TA devotee as they have allowed development of ever more complicated forms of analysis, all of them with short histories. Candlestick analysis on the other hand has a successful history of use going back 400 years. It is based on the psychology of people and the various patterns have enormous empirical support. As with any new set of techniques, there is information and jargon to learn which is always a little daunting. In this case the effort is worth it. I have found that by learning Candlestick techniques I am starting to be able to read a chart in much the same way as I would a page of writing. There are other teachers of Candlestick techniques out there but I know of none who do the job as well as Steve Nison. By the way, he was also the first to bring the techniques to the attention of the Western World. My recommendation? By this course first, then his other two books. Follow the course and you will quickly develop a far better understanding of the probable behaviour of markets. The books and materials have more than recovered their cost for me with my investments.

ALL OF THESE REVIEWS CANT BE WRONG |
|
This book is one of the greatest books on Trading Psychology I have ever read. If you want to learn the mental nuances and workings of the inner mind of a trader, and what makes the difference between winners and losers this book will tell you. Douglas has some absolutely brilliant points about how fear paralyzes traders at the moment of truth. My only criticism would be that I would like to have seen more detailed exercises into some of the techniques he discusses for removing negative charges stored in memories of trading experiences. Overall, a book that can bring to light the mental conditions that separate winners from losers - worth every penny and then some.

Mr. Douglas is the "expert" all traders need! |
|
Having read Jake Bernstein & Larry Williams books, I can categorically state that Mr. Douglas "wins" hands-down in the psychology department. Most of Jake Bernsteins several books are just re-hashes of his first book - and thats what a previous reviewer (who cant even spell) calls an expert??? Mr. Douglas - in both "The Disciplined Trader" and "Trading in the Zone" brings new and relevant insights into the mind of a successful trader. Thats what I call an "expert." If it werent for Mr. Douglas books, Id be out of the business and working as a secretary or waittress, instead of being what I wanted to be - a trader who makes enough money to live the way I want to!
