A total shock. |

This item came to me free during an amazon promotion where if you spend £20 on kitchen goods, you get it free. After laughing at the unusual looking item, I stuck it in a drawer - the only reason I got it because it was free, and looked like a gimmick. How wrong I was! I use it all the time as an oven mitt, and wear it on one hand whilst washing up, allowing me to use extremely hot water for a better clean. Its great for barbecues, and really easy to clean afterwards because it does not burn and fat doesnt stick to it. I have never reviewed on Amazon before, but this item needs publicity, because I would not have touched it with a bargepole, now I cant live without it.

ORKA mitt |
One of the finest kitchen products ever. A bit strange to use at first, but after a little practice you will soon get used to it. Excellent safety protection but I recommend buying two if you use roasting pans etc. as they shouldnt be removed from the oven single handed. Its great not to be nursing a burn after cooking Sunday lunch - worth the money for that alone! Another great advantage is being able to use them in boiling water - hot wet cloths can be handled like cold ones with the ORKA. Grease and fat doesnt stick to them so they are very easy to clean. Be safe - get an ORKA or two, they dont burst into flames like tea towels do!

Good for heat but... |
My dad got 2 of these a little while back now, I think it was originally because they co-ordinated with the kitchen, after using them for the first time it came to my attention that they were rather on the large side. In terms or protecting your hands they work great, especcially as it doesnt matter about them getting wet but they are just so chunky and un flexible that its hard to get a decent grip on anything, I always felt like I was about to drop what I was holding. A also found that they sheer size and lack of flexibility made it hard to pick anything up in the first place. For examle pick something up from inside the grill/top oven can be very tricky because your hand cant get in. In short, all fine and dandy but not everyones cup of tea. I just feel theyve sacrificed a lot to stop them letting the heat through.
