Essential guide for those practising in this area |
|
I have been using this book for two years now and still find it incredibly useful as a source of reference in this technical and complicated area of law. Tim Kevan is a highly respected practitioner in this area of law and his guide is practical as well as clear on the more academic sides. I highly recommend it.

Excellent ADSL reference but hugely US centric |
For anyone starting into ADSL or wanting to find out a bit more then this is an excellent book providing a complete overview starting from the basics. The book is well laid out and takes the reader through all associated technologies in a clear and easy to follow fashion but still providing the necessary technical depth. The main problem however is that it is all based on the US system with only the final chapter paying some attention to the Rest of the World. Here, some of the differences are mentioned including pointing out that US uses a National standard which is different to the International standards used elsewhere but without being specific on the differences or which Non-US standards to reference. Overall however an excellent book to learn everything from the early history through to the latest implementations.

Well written primer |
|
The book is well written (by computer book standards :) ), and offers a surprising amount of information about the current US phone system (europeans, africans, etc. are out of luck....). It would have been interesting if there had been information about say Covad, Cisco and others who are actually implementing these technologies.
